Violation of morals? – Woman in Iran in coma after arrest

Date:

A young woman in Iran has fallen into a coma after being arrested by the vice squad. It is said on social networks that they beat the officers when they were arrested. However, the authorities rejected this bill.

According to the police, the woman suddenly developed heart problems at the police station in Tehran on Tuesday and was taken to a hospital. There she fell into a coma. According to Tehran, the Iranian is already brain dead. This information could not be verified initially.

Headscarf worn incorrectly?
The young woman had previously been arrested by the Morality Police, who work on behalf of the government to strictly control the country’s Islamic laws. These include, for example, dress codes, some of which are enforced by force. The coma patient would also have experienced this and her headscarf did not fit properly, it was reported on social networks. The vice squad beat the woman after she protested her arrest.

Iran has had strict dress codes since the Islamic Revolution in 1979. Especially in metropolitan cities and in wealthier neighborhoods, many women now see these rules as somewhat relaxed, much to the chagrin of arch-conservative politicians. The government under President Ebrahim Raisi and hardliners in parliament have been trying to enforce Islamic laws more strictly for months.
