As reported, anyone wishing to bid farewell to Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II will have to wait at least 24 hours for her coffin. Saturday afternoon their son King Charles III. and heir apparent and grandson Prince William paid a surprise visit to the rank.
They spoke to people who want to say goodbye to the Queen. “I hope you’re not too cold,” the new king said to a woman in the mile-long queue in London. Temperatures rose to a few digits overnight. The waiting people greeted King Charles III. and his son Prince William with applause, cheers and shouts of “God save the King”.
Man twice in line
However, a security guard warned the population to “put away their mobile phones, shake hands and enjoy the moment”. The long wait didn’t stop a man from queuing for the queen’s coffin a second time. Sam Mason from London told the BBC it was a unique experience. “It’s history and I want to be a part of it.”
His first queue at Westminster Hall lasted twelve hours. Then Mason took a short break to take his car to the workshop. The organization was much better the second time we waited, the Brit reported.
The Queen’s coffin will be put down until Monday morning. She died on September 8 at her Scottish estate in Balmoral.
