Activists from the climate protection organization Last Generation also took advantage of the third Monday in September to block part of the Vienna morning traffic route with a plaque campaign. This time a zebra crossing was chosen on the Ringstrasse at the Volkstheater metro station.
According to the protesters, the action started at 8.20 am, with the aim of again demanding a speed limit of 100 km/h on highways against “fossil destruction”. Just like a week earlier, the protest was broken up by the police. If there were four ads a week ago, there were three this time.
According to the state police, only two people were detained. “These have been separated from the road with a solvent,” said police spokesman Philipp Haßlinger of the APA.
„Pace 100 costs nothing”
“My generation can no longer afford this fossil destruction!” said activist Carter Pölzler (22) in a broadcast of the climate protection organization. This showed that the advice of the Climate Council also included the requirement to reduce speed on the roads.
“#Pace100 costs nothing and also provides more safety and better air”, the organization said via Twitter. Implementation is immediately possible. “All it takes is a simple legislative decision in the National Council,” says Pölzler.
