More than 500 heads of state and world leaders will attend the funeral, which will take place at noon at London’s Westminster Abbey. In addition, another 1,500 people were invited to the funeral.

Westminster Abbey opened its doors this Monday at 8:00 a.m. (local time) to allow participants in Elizabeth II’s state funeral, which begins at 11:00 a.m. (noon in the Basque Country).

Before the doors open, the Royal Guard is stationed nearby, with two soldiers at the metal door before the proceedings begin, according to the British newspaper ‘The Guardian’.

London hosts a unprecedented state funeral, which will say goodbye to Queen Elizabeth II,, who died at the age of 96 after more than seven decades as sovereign of the United Kingdom. So the Elizabethan era will finally come to an end – after 11 days of mourning – with this funeral after the mass attendance at the burning chapel in the Palace of Westminster and in an armored city.

07:30.. Closure of Elizabeth II’s funeral chapel at the Palace of Westminster.

9:00 am.. Those attending the funeral service, attended by 500 leaders from around the world, begin arriving at Westminster Abbey.

11:44 am. Elizabeth II’s coffin leaves the seat of the British Parliament and heads for the abbey in funeral procession. The new King Carlos III and his three brothers -Ana, Andrés and Eduardo-, as well as their children, Princes Guillermo and Enrique, will walk behind the monarch’s remains.

12:00 noon. The religious ceremony begins, attended by some 2,000 guests, led by the Dean of Westminster, David Hoyle. Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby will deliver a sermon and British Prime Minister Liz Truss will read a religious text.

12:55 pm. A bugle call marks the beginning of a two-minute silence that will be observed across the UK.

1:15 PM. The coffin leaves the funeral procession from the abbey to Wellington Arch, in the southeastern corner of Hyde Park. Big Ben, the famous bell in the tower of the Palace of Westminster, will chime at one-minute intervals during the procession.

2:00.. The monarch’s remains will be transferred to a hearse for their final journey to Windsor Castle, about 22 miles west of London.

4:00 in the afternoon.. The chest is near the castle. A procession on foot will cover the 5 kilometers of the Long Walk, the characteristic tree-lined avenue leading to the royal residence.

5 p.m.. Elizabeth II’s remains enter the castle’s St George’s Chapel, where some 800 guests attend a religious ceremony led by the Dean of Windsor, David Comey. At the end of the service, the coffin is transferred to the chapel’s royal crypt, where the remains of Prince Philip, the Queen’s husband, who died in 2021 at the age of 99, are also buried.

8:30 in the evening.. Elizabeth II is buried next to Prince Philip in a private ceremony in the chapel of San Jorge, which will be attended by members of the royal family. The marble slab of her tomb will be engraved with the words: “Elizabeth II 1926-2022”.
