The average price of electricity for regulated tariff customers linked to the wholesale market 34.6% up this monday compared to yesterday, up to 261.99 euros megawatt hoursaccording to preliminary data from the Iberian Energy Market Operator (OMIE). The maximum price is registered between 8 pm and 9 pm. at 248.80 euros/MWh, while the minimum for the day of 147.70 euros/MWh occurred between 03:00 and 04:00.
The average price of electricity on the wholesale market this Monday stands at 193.03 euros/MWh. To this price is added the compensation of 68.96 euros/MWh to the gas companies. Thanks to the ‘Iberian exception’ mechanism to limit the price of gas for electricity generation, the price of electricity is on average 12% cheaper. Without this mechanism, the electricity price in Spain would average around 298 euros/MWh, which is 36 euros/MWh more than what we are paying now.
