Police in Pöchlarn in the district of Melk (Lower Austria) are currently dealing with a terrible case of animal cruelty. A Dalmatian was locked at home for days without food or drink. He must have died in agony.
Neighbors who noticed a strong smell of putrefaction from a tilted window had raised the alarm. Because they had not seen the owner for a long time, it was initially assumed that something had happened to the 40-year-old himself. However, after firefighters opened the door, Samaritan Union employees discovered the 15-year-old man’s lifeless body.
First niece accused
At first, the dog owner vehemently denied that he had intentionally left the four-legged friend unkempt. Instead, he blamed his 24-year-old niece. He allegedly asked her to look after the Dalmatian while he was gone.
When questioned by the police, the young woman denied everything. Finally her uncle nodded. The heartless pet owner confessed he wanted the dog to die this way – AD!
