A 36-year-old from St. Georgen an der Gusen (Upper Austria) had a very bad start to the week: he collided with a tram in Leonding on Monday and crashed his insanely expensive Bentley.
On Monday at 4.20 pm, the 36-year-old from Mühlviertler drove his snow-white Bentley (new price from 220,000 euros) on Wegscheider Straße, coming from Linz in the direction of Leonding. At the same time, the tram left the city. For reasons unknown, the driver entered the intersection despite crossing traffic, collided with the tram and then with a street lamp. The driver of the car and tram were uninjured in the accident.
Broken car, driver’s license gone
Both the vehicles and the street lamp sustained significant damage. The B139 was blocked for an hour in the vicinity of the accident. A possible reason for the crash was quickly found: according to the police, the Bentley driver admitted during his first interrogation that he had used drugs the day before.
The Mühlviertler was handed over to the medical officer. This showed that the driver was unfit to drive. The driver’s license has been temporarily suspended. He is shown.
