Many deaths feared – Navalny warns of “tragedy” of mobilization

Date:

According to imprisoned Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny, the partial mobilization announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin will lead to a “massive tragedy”. According to a video circulated by Russian media, he said during one of his numerous court hearings on Wednesday: “This will lead to a huge tragedy, a huge number of deaths.”

“It is clear that the criminal war that is currently going on is getting worse and more intense, and Putin is trying to involve as many people as possible,” Navalny continued. He used a word banned by the Kremlin – Moscow calls his actions in Ukraine “military special operations”.

Navalny feels staying in power is Putin’s motive
“To maintain his personal power, Putin tortures a neighboring country, kills people there and now sends a huge crowd of Russian civilians to this war,” Navalny said. Putin wants to “spread blood on the hands of hundreds of thousands,” he said. Putin’s most prominent Russian critic has been imprisoned since January 2021. He denies the allegations against him.

300,000 reservists to reinforce the army
Putin had previously announced the partial mobilization of military-age Russians in a televised speech. Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said 300,000 reservists should bolster Russian and separatist forces in southern and eastern Ukraine.

Calls are being shared in the online networks to demonstrate throughout the day against the announcements in numerous cities.
