Tragic incident Wednesday evening in Innsbruck: In a dormitory, a bed in which a 65-year-old was suddenly started to burn. A nurse came to the aid of the elderly woman, took the burning woman into a shower and extinguished it.
Shortly after 8 p.m., a fire broke out in the resident’s bed. It is still unclear why, according to the police. A nurse reacted wittily: she grabbed the woman, whose clothes were already on fire, and immediately took her to the shower to extinguish the flames.
“She and other colleagues then managed to extinguish the bed with a hand fire extinguisher. The after-extinguishing work was eventually carried out by the professional fire brigade of Innsbruck,” the researchers said.
“Life-threatening injuries”
The 65-year-old suffered life-threatening injuries. After first aid, she was taken by ambulance to the Innsbruck clinic. The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
