Serious traffic accident Wednesday afternoon in the Tyrolean Oberland: A German couple collided with a tractor on Reschenstraße near Pfunds (Landeck district), after which their car ended up in the adjacent ditch. While the driver (60) was able to free himself from the car, his 59-year-old wife had to be extricated from the wreckage by the fire service.
The German couple was driving on the B180 from Landeck towards Pfunds at about 2.15 pm when a 73-year-old fellow townsman wanted to cross the main road at the Mariastein junction with his tractor. There was a collision between the two vehicles.
Lost control of car
The 60-year-old German then lost control of the wheel and ended up on the side of the road. The car eventually came to a stop in the ditch. “The injured driver was able to free himself and was taken by ambulance to hospital in Zams after first aid,” said the police.
His wife may have had it worse. She was trapped in the car and had to be cut from the wreckage with rescue scissors. She was then flown to the hospital in an ambulance. The car was a total loss. This had to be salvaged with a crane.
