Jon Zayas, Basque engineer and director of Statkraft projects, explains the project on Radio Euskadi

In Itsaraz, seven wind farms will be built in Aramaio and one in Eskoriatza. As for the Piaspe park, three wind turbines will be placed in Azpeitia and two between Errezil and Zestoa. This has been brought up by the Basque engineer and project manager of the Norwegian company on Radio Euskadi.

Company statkraft, which plans to build two wind farms in Euskadi, is making progress with its plans. After the Basque engineer and project manager of the Norwegian company learned that the Norwegian company and the Azpeitia City Council will report on the Piaspe wind project on October 11, Jon Zayashas put forward on Radio Euskadi that wind farms three or four times larger than the current ones in the Basque Country are currently being considered.

Zayas, who will explain the plan to the residents of the various cities involved in the public exhibition sessions that will take place in the coming weeks, has provided some details about the location of the wind turbines. “In Itsarazwe are located in Eskoriatza and Aramaio with eight wind turbines: seven are in Aramaio and one in Eskoriatza,” he pointed out. piaspe park“we proposed a park of five wind turbines; three wind turbines in Azpeitia and another two wind turbines between Errezil and Zestoa,” he explained.

The idea, according to Zayas, is that: mills are big, to occupy less land; and they could grow up to 200 meters in height, double or triple the wind farms currently in operation in the Basque Country: “They would be about 205 meters high and about 170 meters in diameter,” noted the Basque engineer .

The next step would be: distribute and distribute the generated electricity between the municipalities and companies that want to participate in or invest in the project. And here, according to Zayas, Statkraft is considering several options: from a cable that physically connects, for example with the Fagor factories in Debagoiena, to supplying contracts at low prices.

As for the citizens, they will be offered to create energy cooperatives “whose model we define” and who always “consent to the projects”, said the project director of the Norwegian company.

“We want a disruptive model in which people are listened to, the cooperation of all parties is encouraged (municipalities, citizens, industry, EVE…), we want to do it differently and above all”, he emphasized, “we want to listen to the project to what we all want .”
