Several people were injured in a fire in Wiener Neustadt on Thursday evening, according to the fire service. In an apartment on Grazerstrasse, a plastic sofa caught fire, causing massive smoke development. The resident and four neighbors have been handed over to the Red Cross.
According to a broadcast, the use of the fire service was severely hampered “because of the serious deficiencies in the plumbing and fire protection” in the apartment. A respiratory protection team first had to fight their way through clutter and household items. The fire could spread quickly in this area, wrote the FF Wiener Neustadt.
The front door of the fire station had to be broken open. The resident was rescued from the smoke, as were four neighbours.
The fire was quickly under control. The FF Wiener Neustadt was on duty for about two hours with 42 helpers. The cause of the fire is under police investigation.
