A 35-year-old drug driver overturned his unregistered car on Saturday morning. He then fled with his passenger (29) through the icy Feistritz, in the presence of two first aiders.
The emergency services did not get a night’s sleep on Saturday morning: around 1.30 am, the comrades from the fire brigades Stubenberg am See, Pöllau and Sparberegg and the police were called to an accident. Shortly after the Stubenbergsee, but already in the gorge, a car that was not registered for traffic and had two different and stolen license plates rolled over. Lying on the roof, he had come to a stop on the street.
Two drivers and witnesses to the accident stopped to render assistance. But before their eyes, the man (35) and the passenger (29) fought their way out of the wreckage, climbed down the embankment and ran in the dark through the icy Feistritz.
The fire brigades of Pöllau and Sparberegg were alerted to the search by drone. But when they arrived, the fugitives had already been captured by police. The officers also seized the two stolen license plates, as well as narcotics (marijuana) in the backpack of the driver, who was also slightly intoxicated and under the influence of narcotics. He also doesn’t have a driver’s license. He and his accomplice were taken to hospital and reported.
