It was an incredibly tragic incident that unfortunately ended fatally: The 65-year-old pensioner who literally caught fire in a dormitory in Innsbruck on Wednesday night from a fire that started in the bed, died of her serious injuries.
Shortly after 8 p.m. on Wednesday evening, a fire broke out in the resident’s bed. A nurse reacted wittily: she grabbed the pensioner, whose clothes were already on fire, and immediately took her to the shower to extinguish the flames.
The 65-year-old was then first taken to the Innsbruck clinic and then transferred to the Bavarian clinic in Murnau, which specializes in burn victims.
Woman dies in special clinic
On Friday afternoon, the Tyrolean police announced that the woman died there on Thursday as a result of injuries sustained in the fire. “Based on the police investigation conducted and the general circumstances, it can be assumed that the fire was an accident,” the researchers concluded.
