A spectacular accident in Moosbach in the Innviertel claimed a seriously injured 73-year-old. The driver’s car was hit by a crossing combine harvester, severed and thrown over an embankment.
The 73-year-old from Moosbach near Mauerkirchen drove her car on Mauerkirchener Landesstraße (B142) from Weng towards Moosbach around 1.20 pm on Friday. At a crossroads in the village of Dietraching, a 77-year-old from Weng wanted to cross the B142 with his combine to reach a cornfield on the opposite side of the road. His daughter (40) had already crossed the intersection in the vehicle in front and was waiting for her father on the other side of the road.
Just overlooked cars?
However, while crossing the B142, he may have overlooked the 73-year-old’s car. The result: both vehicles collided with each other. The roof of the car was completely ripped open when the combine was seized and the car was thrown over a slope in the cornfield. Another German (43) immediately stopped and gave the pensioner first aid. The 73-year-old was seriously injured and had to be flown to Braunau Hospital after initial treatment with the emergency doctor helicopter “Christophorus 6”.
