A spectacular police operation in an apartment building caused a stir in Schwaz, Tyrol on Friday morning. Apparently a suspect wanted to throw himself out the window because of an imminent arrest. The Cobra was also there.
Dramatic scenes took place around 10 a.m. Friday around an apartment building on Doktor-Walter-Waizer-Strasse in Schwaz. “I heard screams from the house across the street and saw a resident standing in front of an open window on the third floor,” said eyewitness Klaus Angerer (79), “the person gestured to a second man on the floor below.”

According to Angerer, police officers were stationed at the entrance and uniformed and civilian officers were scattered around. The Cobra Special Forces had also arrived.
Then the situation came to a head. “The man climbed on the windowsill, probably to jump off,” Angerer speculates. But then Cobra agents grabbed him from behind and pulled him away from the window. He was taken away in handcuffs.
The police confirmed the operation to the “Krone”. The suspect is known to the authorities and is being investigated in connection with theft and attempted robbery. He may have been in a deteriorated condition, and he also reportedly had a knife in his hand. No one was injured.
