French President Emmanuel Macron sees himself as a role model and is therefore now wearing a turtleneck sweater. He wants to prepare the French for the winter heating crisis.
The 44-year-old also appeared in a warm-dressed-against-the-crisis look for German Unity Day dinner with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
While Scholz posed for the photographers in a classic politician suit, suit with shirt and tie – maybe he’s changing his attitude – Macron showed himself in a dark blue turtleneck under his jacket.
Wrap up warm for the energy crisis
The French government wants to lead by example as the European energy crisis calls for warm clothes and lower heating this winter, the German news agency dpa reports.
Awareness is raised
Many leading French politicians have started the “trend”. The fact that Macron has left his nice shirts in the closet and now also wears sweaters delighted France’s “Gala”, which noted: “A change of clothes intended to make the French aware of the energy crisis.”
