“I wish I could turn back time,” sighs the 40-year-old from Klagenfurt. “It was a drunken story.” With eight beers and a bottle of vodka down, he called a regional radio station during the corona lockdown for unvaccinated people last winter.
“I felt so locked up because I wasn’t vaccinated. But I couldn’t do anything with the anti-government demonstrations either. So I wanted to vent my frustration. Really stupid!” Because the crane operator didn’t complain about the Corona measures – but threatened that his friends would come from the infamous Hells Angels rocker gang, with Molotov cocktails.

“All of Klagenfurt will be on fire,” quoting prosecutor Markus Kitz. “And since Klagenfurt has more than 100,000 inhabitants, the threat is on them all. This is a classic land force, as it says in the book.” This applies if someone “incites a larger group of people into fear and unrest” and is threatened with up to three years in prison. “I don’t know any of the Hells Angels,” admits the suspect. “I will certainly never do anything like that again.” He wants to learn from his mistakes – the only thing he can’t keep away from is alcohol.

“Somehow it just doesn’t work without some great beers,” he says. Most importantly, the man works in a responsible position on construction sites – for how long is the question, since the penalty is quite high, despite the good mood in the courtroom: five months suspended prison terms plus a fine of 3,600 euros. The convict asked for a three-day cooling-off period, which is not legally binding.
