What a tragedy on the border between Upper and Lower Austria: on his departure, 16-year-old Yannick died in Behamberg – friends and relatives found him.
The boy was with friends at the “Last Fall” festival of the rural youth of Behamberg over the weekend, it had been arranged that he would be picked up by a relative on Sunday evening.
Search started
But Yannick did not show up at the agreed meeting point. Since the boy was considered very reliable, the worst had to be assumed. A search was launched, family members and friends took part. They didn’t find Yannick until Sunday morning – and their fears became reality. The 16-year-old, who played an active role at the football club in Haidershofen until 2019/20, was lying in a stream bed under the B122.
Forensic evidence indicated that he apparently slipped and fell into the wet grass. The police rule out third-party culpability, so the body was released and Yannick will be buried on Friday.
