Following Russia’s annexation of four Ukrainian territories, EU countries have now agreed on a new package of sanctions against Russia. The eighth package of measures includes a price cap for oil imports from Russia.
As confirmed by several diplomats from the dpa news agency in Brussels, the permanent representatives of the member states approved, among other things, the legal requirements for this on Wednesday. The agreement still has to be confirmed in writing by the capitals of the Member States.
Just a few days ago, Moscow imposed an import ban on trucks from EU countries in response to previous rounds of EU sanctions. Both the carriage of goods in bilateral trade and the transit or entry from third countries are prohibited, the regulation published on Saturday said. In addition to the EU on the European continent, the regulations also affect Norway, Great Britain and Ukraine. According to the document, the import ban will come into effect on October 10.
