The EMB Bizkaibus committee calls a 13-day strike for October and November

Date:

The interruptions will be two hours per shift from October 25. They demand a new agreement with wage increases in accordance with the CPI.

The Works Council of EMB Bizkaibus, headed by DC. OO.has declared a 13-day strike between October and November to demand an agreement with, “at least”, pay increases in line with the CPI.

In a statement, the union said the strikes are also intended to expose the immobility of both the company and the Bizkaia Provincial Council to extend the agreement, EMB SA has 500 workers and it is the most staffed concessionaire within Bizkaibus, the road passenger transport service of the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, as specified in the note.

The Days of Strike starts on October 25 and will develop with 2 hour break per turn. They will take place on October 27 and on November 3, 8, 10, 14, 15, 17, 21, 22, 25, 28 and 29.

At the moment there are 13 days of strikes, but if there is no progress in the negotiations, the commission will intensify the mobilizations with a indefinite strike.

According to CCOO, the collective agreement of the concession company Bizkaibus ended in 2020 and at that point contacts could have been made for its extension in January 2021.

The union assured that it was given priority at the time, as it was still in the midst of a pandemic, to ensure the socio-sanitary conditions of the staff and, in turn, of the users, and to wait for the passenger occupancy rate to be increased. increase to pre-pandemic values.

Currently, according to CC. OO., these levels have recovered, even surpassed, but the company and the Diputación “continue to slam the door on the demands of the staff”, and the negotiations “have been broken”.

The union has decided not to sit down at the negotiating table “until there is a serious proposal in line with the current situation”, adding that the workers “cannot be the pagans of a socio-economic situation for which they are not responsible”.
