Only 4% of respondents have not yet decided their vote
The Workers’ Party (PT) candidate for Brazil’s presidency, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, was able to secure up to 51% of the vote in the second round against President Jair Bolsonaro’s Liberal Party (PL), which would reach 43%, according to an investigation released Wednesday evening by the consultancy firm Ipec.
In addition to those who have already voted, 4% of those polled admitted that they have not made a decision yet, a small number that could tip the election to one side or the other, according to the newspaper ‘O Globo’.
In addition, within the two finalist campaigns, 92% have stated that they are sure of their vote, while the remaining 8% could change it between now and October 30, when the elections will be held.
In southeastern Brazil, 45% of voters say they vote for Lula and 42% for Bolsonaro. In the northeast, on the other hand, 69% say they will vote for the PT, against 25% who would vote for the current president.
In the north of the country, 50% prefer Bolsonaro, while 42% prefer the former president. In the south, Bolsonaro records a greater intent to vote: 53% compared to 36% for Lula, as reported by ‘Folha de S.Paulo’.
In the first round, last Sunday, Lula took 48.4% of the valid votes, compared to 43.2% for Bolsonaro. Third place, Simone Tebet (MDB), was left with 4.2% and Ciro Gomes (PDT), with 3%. Tebet has already announced that it will support Lula in the final round.
