The suspects were particularly brutal in attacking the couple: armed with an ax, they climbed into the house in Lower Austria, tied them up and wounded the two victims. They stole 800,000 euros in jewelry, gold and money from the safe. Two were given prison terms on Friday, some of them permanent.
Tied up, badly injured and robbed in their own living room. A pharmacist couple from Lower Austria had to experience this in January. Three men entered her house through the patio door – armed with an axe. The man still resisted, but received a heavy blow to the head with the blunt end of the axe. They dragged the woman into the study by her hair and demanded, “Money, money! gold, gold!”
800,000 euros booty
After the criminals emptied the safe and found other valuables – worth 800,000 euros – they fled. However, only four of the Serb gang of seven could be located. They now had to answer to the court of Korneuburg. A search is underway throughout Europe for the three missing suspects.
“Panzerknacker” officially announced
However, only a 28-year-old was convicted, he is said to have been given the getaway car and kept an eye on the couple’s house for weeks, and a 43-year-old. His German lawyer, who defends together with Philipp Wolm, describes him as a “tank cracker”. The Serb is no stranger to the judiciary. Under other names, he already has several previous convictions in Germany and was eventually arrested in Croatia. Both pleaded innocent in court.
Elimination for attempted suicide
The case against the third defendant and father of the 28-year-old has been adjourned. He is said to have helped organize the car and scouting. The day before the second day of the trial, he attempted suicide and is now in a psychiatric ward. He therefore did not appear at the trial in Korneuburg.
Six and ten years in prison
His son received a final six-year sentence for the brutal home invasion. Both the Public Prosecution Service and lawyer Philipp Wolm and his German colleague have appealed against the ten years in prison for the 43-year-old “tank cracker”. The verdict is therefore not final.
