Desperate efforts – Ukraine: 2,200 conscripts prevented from escaping

Date:

Since the war with Russia began, Ukrainian border guards have prevented nearly 2,200 men of military age from leaving the country. “Lately there have also been several cases where the bodies of men have been found on the banks of the water near the border,” the authority said on Sunday.

Unlike women and children, who are displaced by the hundreds of thousands, men are supposed to defend their homeland. Some male refugees tried to bribe officials or cross the border with forged documents. Several cases of frostbite have also been recorded in the Carpathians, including on the border with Romania.

There will be fines when you return
Reports about former constitutional judge Olexander Tupyzkyj have recently caused a stir in the Ukrainian media. The 59-year-old was photographed in Vienna. Ukraine has announced it will punish those who fled the country’s defenses after they return to the country.

Exit for men between the ages of 18 and 60 prohibited
After the Russian invasion on February 24, Ukraine banned men between the ages of 18 and 60 from leaving the country. Exceptions apply to conscripts and fathers of large families, as well as long-distance drivers.
