“Based on an accurate description of the person, the officers were able to stop the unknown man at a tram stop near Museumsplatz,” police spokeswoman Julia Schick said on Sunday. The suspect is a 36-year-old Iraqi. He was temporarily arrested and the knife was confiscated.
