Remarkable action on Monday afternoon for the fire brigade in Sölden, Tyrol. Ironically, a diesel unit used to charge electric trucks caught fire. The cause may have been a technical defect.
The site of the unusual operation was the area of the toll station on Ötztaler Gletscherstraße in Sölden. There, the diesel unit caught fire shortly after 4 p.m. while an electric truck was being charged.
Workers sounded the alarm
“A worker operating the unit suddenly saw plumes of smoke near the container in which the unit is installed and immediately made an emergency call,” the police said.
20 emergency services on site
The fire brigades of Sölden and Gurgl came with about 20 emergency services and were eventually able to successfully fight the fire. “No one was injured. It is suspected that a technical defect caused the fire,” the researchers conclude.
