At the small border crossing Nightmarkt in Mittelburgenland there is actually a driving ban for cars. However, it is often ignored by border forens, the residents are angry.
In fact, only pedestrians, cyclists, motorcyclists, riders and agricultural vehicles can use the connection with the Hungarian Harka. It has been quiet in recent weeks- because of the lock because of the mouth and mouth disease (MKS). Obstacles therefore blocked the road.
MKS Lock supplied short -term lighting
The transition has been open again since Wednesday and is already used as an illegal scary path through border forens. “Sometimes it becomes really dangerous when cars and minibuses run through a murder caracho,” reports an angry resort on the “Kroon”. The result is dangerous situations, for example when children walk along the street. In the past, tugboats would have used this route for travel with small vans.
State contract
It would have been preferred to the residents if the obstacles had been stopped, even after the last lock had been lifted. According to Mayor Johannes Igler (ÖVP), this is “not possible for liability reasons”. Moreover, the passage for agricultural vehicles must remain guaranteed – even if the farmers hardly use them. “This is regulated in a state contract between Austria and Hungary,” explains Igler.
Letter to Minister of Foreign Affairs
However, if the agricultural vehicles are eliminated, you can set up bollards. Igler now wants to write a letter to Minister of Foreign Affairs Beate Meinl-Reisinger (Neos) and ask you to have corresponding conversations with the Hungarian neighbors.
