Due to a fire in a waste processing company near the A23 in Vienna-Donaustadt, it was necessary to temporarily close the southeastern ring road on Sunday afternoon. The fire brigade was deployed with 26 men and several vehicles.
The fire brigade was alerted around 4 p.m. because a fire had started outside the waste treatment plant.
Blocked due to obstructed view
The location is right next to the A23 in Donaustadt. Because the fire produced a lot of smoke, it was decided to close the A23 in both directions in the area as a precaution, Jürgen Figerl, spokesman for the professional fire service of Vienna, told krone.at.
The fire brigade was on site with several vehicles, including a large tank fire truck and a water cannon, to contain the flames and extinguish the fire. The blockade on the A23 was lifted around 4.45 pm.
