Arrest of a 45-year-old in Burgenland, who recently stole a sinfully expensive bicycle! Researchers are now tracking down the masterminds in Hungary.
A criminal tourist from Hungary, who is aiming for insanely expensive racing and mountain bikes, caused a stir. In the border region Styria-Burgenland, the 45-year-old probably struck several times. In his most recent coup d’état he made a rich loot on a tennis court in Gleisdorf (Styria).
Stolen expensive bike
The perpetrator grabbed a state-of-the-art children’s bicycle, which cost almost 6,000 euros, and disappeared with it. But the common theft was quickly discovered. The minor victim immediately went to the police with his grandfather and filed a report. “During the search, the concrete suspicion arose that the wanted criminal wanted to go to Burgenland with the loot and had fled by train,” says a detective.

Patrol officers eventually tracked down the thief on a train when the train stopped at Fehring station. The suspect has been arrested.
The suspect forwarded a number of recordings to an alleged accomplice in Hungary. The studies into the masterminds have been in full swing for days.
Many bicycle thefts
By the way, there are more than seven million bicycles in Austria. On average, almost 17,600 bicycles are stolen every year. The clearing rate was just nine percent recently.
