A stranger called the woman posing as a prosecutor. He announced that the pensioner’s daughter had caused a fatal traffic accident – and was therefore in custody. If bail is posted, the daughter can leave prison. The 76-year-old received another call. This time, a “cop” told her exactly the same strong story.
The scammers tricked the woman into handing gold coins worth more than 100,000 euros to a courier at the front door. Shortly afterwards, the pensioner called the real police.
