Russian President Vladimir Putin will receive the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, on Tuesday. According to the Kremlin, the two will meet in Saint Petersburg. The conversation comes against the background of repeated attacks around and on Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant in recent months.
Europe’s largest nuclear power plant in southern Ukraine has been occupied by Russian troops since March. A few days ago, Putin placed the nuclear power plant under Russian administration by decree.
Grossi is committed to a conservation area around the nuclear power plant and was therefore earlier in Kiev. Moscow on Monday attacked several cities in Ukraine with missiles that, according to Ukrainian sources, were primarily aimed at the country’s energy infrastructure.
