The American space agency NASA is looking for ‘Martians’ for a year-long simulation of life on the red planet. Four volunteers will spend 12 months starting in the spring of 2025 in “Mars Dune Alpha” in Houston, Texas, a 160-square-meter simulation area modeled on Mars, NASA announced Friday.
There, the participants have to take care of the harvest, living space, machines and maintenance and sports, among other things.
This is the second simulation that is part of NASA’s ‘Chapea’ program, which is intended to prepare missions to Mars.
“Healthy and motivated”
Anyone who has a college degree in the physical sciences and at least 1,000 flight hours can apply until April 2, NASA said.
In addition, applicants must be between 30 and 55 years old, “healthy and motivated,” not smoke, and have U.S. citizenship or permanent residency. The use is reimbursed.
