For the second time, emergency services had to turn out in St. Veit on Sunday. A house is on fire. The mission is running.
“It should burn in the garage of the apartment building,” says Jürgen Sampl, spokesman for the FF. St. Vitus known. The residential building is located right in the city center. There are 120 firefighters from a total of eight fire brigades present. One person was taken to hospital for possible smoke inhalation.
At around 7.15 pm, Sampl was able to give the signal for the time being: “There are no more people in the house. We have the fire under control.” However, because of the smoldering glow, the emergency services have to open the roof. “We will be there longer because there are countless embers in the attic.”
Neighbors noticed the fire and raised the alarm
Angelo Maurer, a neighbor, noticed the fire and immediately alerted the emergency services. “I looked out the window, saw the heavy smoke and then immediately fire,” says the neighbor, who reacted quickly and immediately raised the alarm.
It was not until Sunday morning that the fire brigade had to move to Friesacher Straße in St. Veit. There, too, an apartment burned down. A wheelchair user owes her life to her attentive neighbor and her daughter. The two save the woman from the flames.
