The suspect in the case of the missing Maddie McCann is now being prosecuted by the Braunschweig prosecutor, it was announced on Tuesday. Not because of the kidnapping of Maddie, who disappeared in Portugal in 2007, but because of various sexual crimes, including child abuse.
The prosecution has prosecuted 45-year-old Christian B. for three rapes and two cases of child sexual abuse. “Today the prosecution in Braunschweig filed a complaint against a 45-year-old German in the regional court of Braunschweig for various sex crimes allegedly committed in Portugal between December 28, 2000 and June 11, 2017,” he was quoted as saying. the “Bild” prosecutor Hans Christian Wolters. “The suspect is the same person under investigation in connection with the disappearance of three-year-old British girl Madeleine Beth McCann on May 3, 2007, from an apartment complex in Praia da Luz, Portugal, on suspicion of murder.”
Suspect is in custody
The 45-year-old is currently serving a multi-year prison sentence in Oldenburg for the 2005 rape of an American woman in Praia da Luz, Portugal, where about a year and a half later, three-year-old Maddie disappeared from an apartment complex.
Since then, Madeleine McCann has gone missing and the case has become known worldwide thanks to massive media coverage and parental initiative. To this day, however, it is not clear what happened that night or whether the girl, who is now 19 years old, is still alive.
