In the small Spanish town of Ponferrada, a brown bear keeps the local police in suspense. A taxi driver and other residents alerted authorities on Tuesday morning when they saw the animal wandering downtown.
Several patrols then went on a search, discovering the animal near the River Sil and then leading it to its natural habitat on Mount Pajariel, police in the country’s 65,000-population city in the northwestern part of the country said on Twitter.

Video posted by the taxi driver’s Policía Municipal de Ponferrada shows the brown bear walking in front of the man’s car before dawn.
According to the police, the situation for the residents of Ponferrada was by no means harmless: “Although these animals are very shy around people, extreme caution is required.”
