After a bridge explosion – the discrepancy in the image of a truck with a bomb raises questions

Date:

After the explosion on the Crimean Bridge, Moscow blames Ukrainian military intelligence for the attack – eight suspects have already been arrested. But inconsistencies in a video and an X-ray of the truck, which would show the vehicle was checked shortly before the explosion and released by Russia’s domestic intelligence agency FSB, raise questions. The same truck cannot be seen on the two shots. Kiev promptly called the Russian investigation “nonsense”.

Russian authorities released alleged video footage and X-rays of the truck used to transport the bomb to Kerch Bridge. The images would show “inspection of a truck with an explosive charge and a photo of the contents of the truck.” But observers have acknowledged that the recordings do not match. The positions of the wheels suggest that it cannot be the same car.

The truck shown in the video has two front axles, while the one in the X-ray has only one. Analyst Oliver Alexander also noted that one of the photos is also missing the side bumper.

FSB suspects chief of Ukrainian secret service as a brain
The explosive is said to have been camouflaged in “rolls of construction polyethylene film on 22 pallets with a total weight of 22,770 kilograms,” according to the FSB, according to the Russia-friendly website Ukraine Today. The cargo was shipped from Odessa to the Bulgarian city of Ruse in early August, the platform said. The FSB also sees Ukrainian secret service chief Kirill Budanov as the mastermind behind the explosion on the bridge.

For Kiev, Russian investigations are “nonsense”
But in Kiev, there are strong doubts about the FSB’s findings, which recently led to the arrest of eight suspects. A senior Ukrainian official called the Russian investigation into the explosion “nonsense”. The domestic intelligence agency and the commission of inquiry are “false structures serving the Putin regime, so we will certainly not comment on their next statements,” said Interior Ministry spokesman Andriy Yusov. “The entire activity of the FSB and the Commission of Inquiry is nonsense,” he said through the Ukrainian public broadcaster Suspilne.

Kiev locates rail to Russia
Ukraine continues to deny having anything to do with the attack. Ukraine’s presidential adviser, Mykhailo Podoliak, put forward the theory that the killers were to be found in the Russian military leadership. Reason are mistakes between the mercenary group Wagner and the Ministry of Defense in Moscow. “It is worth noting that, according to all indications, the exploded truck entered the bridge from the Russian side,” Podoliak said.
