Another fatal accident occurred during forestry work in Styria. A 57-year-old Styrian was run over by his tractor in Bad Aussee. He may not have applied the parking brake.
The man from the Liezen district cut wood in his forest in Bad Aussee. According to the police, he pulled logs onto the forest road with the tractor, which were secured with a steel cable and a chain.
At about 11 a.m. on a downhill road, the man stopped the tractor and got out to release a chain from the trunk. However, the parking brake in the vehicle may not have been activated: the tractor started moving and ran over the man!
Found after two hours
A woodworker who happened to be working nearby found the man from Upper Styria about two hours later and made an emergency call. But there was no rescue. The 57-year-old was alone in the woods when the accident happened.
