“The crisis handbook is getting thicker and thicker,” says general manager Klaus Hraby. The manufacturer of pickled vegetables prepares for emergencies – he also consults experts.
Werner Steinecker, director general of Energie AG, diagnoses an “excessive prophylactic panic at headquarters” regarding those companies concerned about what would happen in the event of a blackout. The fact is, fears of extended total power outages are spreading — and it’s on the agenda of more and more companies, too.
efko’s management team also consulted experts on what the “worst case” would mean for the sour vegetable manufacturer. “We still have just enough energy to provide cooling in the halls and thus for our products,” says Klaus Hraby, who runs the food manufacturer’s business together with Bernhard Stöhr.
Dependence on electricity becomes visible
The first measures were also discussed with internal management. “We’ve always had a crisis handbook, but it’s getting thicker and thicker,” Hraby says. Even the pump at the gas station for the efko trucks runs on electricity.
