A shooting erupted Thursday in Raleigh, North Carolina, killing five people, including an off-duty police officer. At least two other people, including a police officer, were injured and taken to hospital. According to local authorities, a manhunt has been launched for the perpetrator.
Part of the city had to be cordoned off. The suspect was “taken into a residential building” three hours later. “We have to do more. We must stop this senseless violence in America. We need to tackle gun violence,” Mayor Mary-Ann Baldwin said at a news conference.
The shooting happened just after 5 p.m. local time on a hiking trail in the city. The alleged shooter is a white teenager, the WTVD television channel reports.
