A 64-year-old Austrian threatened two traders with an ax in Vienna-Leopoldstadt on Thursday because, according to the police, he felt disturbed by installation work in the adjacent apartment. Emergency services subsequently arrested the man with support from WEGA. An alcohol test revealed 2.5 per mille.
The 64-year-old did not rely on diplomacy from the start, but assured the craftsmen that he would kill them if they did not stop the work. Shortly afterwards, he again went to the men with an ax in his hand and damaged the apartment door, which a worker was able to lock in time, police said.
The alerted officers arrested the man. He offered no resistance. The ax was found in the suspect’s home. The 64-year-old confessed and was provisionally arrested.
