According to Polish information, Druzhba’s leaking oil pipeline from Russia to Central Europe has resumed. As Polish operator PERN announced on Saturday, full functionality of the pipeline has been restored to allow oil to be returned to German customers with immediate effect.
The cause of the leak, which was discovered Tuesday evening, is still under investigation. After determining the damage, PERN states that there are no indications that third parties caused the damage. “According to the initial findings and the way the pipeline is deformed, there is currently no evidence of outside influences,” the operator said in a statement.
The Druzhba (Friendship) pipeline is one of the largest in the world and supplies Russian oil to several countries in Central Europe. Their pipes run partly above and partly underground.
