Several people were slightly injured in a major fight on the Autobahn 555 between Cologne and Bonn on Saturday afternoon. According to a statement, police initially had to completely block the highway towards Bonn in the vicinity of the Godor junction to avoid an escalating dispute between two drivers and other passengers in the emergency lane and a lane.
Seven people were slightly injured in the incident and an 18-year-old and a taxi driver were taken to hospital because of internal incidents, a spokesperson said on request on Sunday.
According to an initial investigation, a 32-year-old drove his car into the 555 for a taxi at the Cologne-South interchange. The apparently agitated taxi driver (59) then fought a daring duel with the 32-year-old, with the drivers honking, flashing their headlights and braking each other, endangering themselves and other road users.
Both vehicles and another car, driven by the taxi driver’s son, stopped on the hard shoulder at the Godorf interchange. The inmates then attacked each other and, according to police, they classify the quarrel as a family dispute.
According to police, ten or eleven people were involved. One lane was reopened to traffic after emergency services had brought the situation under control. Criminal charges were filed for bodily harm, coercion, insult and threats. The parties to the dispute were escorted from the highway by police.
