The newly hired teachers in Vienna received their wages on the October 15 deadline, but some were not paid correctly. Educators feel unappreciated.
Due to staffing issues in the education department, newly hired teachers had to worry about their first paycheck – we reported. Now it should have worked with the timely payment, but according to “Krone” information, this was incomplete for many.
Wages were higher in high school
“Until the last moment I didn’t know if and how much salary I would get six weeks after I started working, I still don’t have a work contract,” says a young teacher. On October 15, money came into her account, but she didn’t think that was enough. Because before she started AHS Rahlgasse in September, she spent three years at a secondary school, where her salary was higher.
matter of appreciation
From that point of view, it could only be the base salary, but neither previous periods of service nor her work as a class teacher are counted. “It is also a matter of appreciation for our hard work, we want to be rewarded for that,” says the teacher. Green education spokespersons Julia Malle and Felix Stadler are also convinced: “This way of dealing with teachers is the opposite of appreciative and will not make the profession more attractive.”
The Education Department says: “Previous periods of service and additional services will be billed later. Due to a change in the system, the payment must be made on time in the future.”
