Another drunk driver caused a serious accident in Upper Austria. A 54-year-old man with a blood alcohol level of 1.2 got into the wheel of his vehicle on Sunday and then collided head-on with the car of a 33-year-old woman.
The 54-year-old driver from Neuhofen an der Krems steered his vehicle from Altheim towards Braunau. At the same time, a 33-year-old driver from Ranshofen steered her vehicle in the opposite direction. The 54-year-old collided with oncoming traffic for unknown reasons and then collided with the left front of the woman’s vehicle on the driver’s side.
Thrown in a ditch
Due to the force of the grazing collision, the driver’s car took off, was thrown over the sloping shoulder of the road, turned once on its own axis and ended up 30 meters further in the ditch. The 54-year-old’s vehicle came to a stop on the verge shortly after the accident site.
Driver does not have a driver’s license
The drivers suffered serious injuries in the accident and were taken by ambulance to Braunau hospital. Both vehicles involved were declared a total loss. An alcohol test performed on the 54-year-old showed a value of 1.2 per mille. It was also found that the driver did not have a valid driver’s license. He is shown several times.
