It was an act of revenge: a father-son duo attacked the man who allegedly sexually abused their wife or mother. According to the indictment, they also took 5,000 euros from him – another robbery. According to the victim, that would not be true. Both men were sentenced to prison for attempted murder.
Assault as a motive for attempted murder: A 56-year-old Romanian and his 15-year-old stepson have been indicted at the regional court in Krems (Lower Austria) since June for attempted murder and violent theft. The two are said to have attacked and injured a 33-year-old compatriot with a knife and an ax at around 8 p.m. on January 22 near Königsbrunn am Wagram. They then took – according to the indictment – 5,000 euros in cash from the Romanian.
Victim denies attempted robbery
After failing to appear on the witness stand despite all charges, the victim had to be suspended several times. Now in Cyprus a video interrogation with the 33-year-old has been successful. And it ended with a bang: he couldn’t remember attempting a robbery, and neither of them asked for money from him. The partner and mother of the two accused described the incident as a “devilish act of revenge” by the 33-year-old. Because the later victim would have sexually abused the woman beforehand.
Shortly before midnight Monday, the jury then ruled: 13 years in prison for the 56-year-old, his stepson received three and a half years of partially suspended prison – not final.
