Another suspicion of abuse in a Viennese kindergarten: an assistant is said to have repeatedly beaten a boy. The prosecutor is investigating. The victim was withdrawn. The child’s parents think there are other victims. The manager of the Viennese kindergarten has a very different view.
This time it concerns a private facility on the Küniglberg in Hietzing. An assistant would have hit at least one boy multiple times. Motive: a punishment ritual for peeing your pants.
Even hair pulled out
The parents of the now four-year-old were shocked when the child pulled out clumps of hair. They took him to a psychologist. There the boy told about beatings (also with other children) and painful pricks in the genital area. The family filed a complaint and the youth services intervened.
“The order was immediately given to remove the assistant from the children’s service. An investigation was immediately launched. Minutes were taken with the suspect and the school management and a psychologist consulted by the parents and the father of the child was contacted. Because the accusation could not be ruled out, a statement of the facts was sent to the public prosecutor’s office,” says MA11. Other cases are unknown so far.
‘Employee fired immediately’
The nursery school operator is a non-profit association. His spokesman Robert Merker said: “The employee was released immediately. I want to emphasize that the other children and parents are very sad that she is gone.” Moreover, there was a whole year between the advertisement and the alleged incidents.
The parents’ lawyer, Johannes Bügler, explains that only through the work of the psychologist did the full implications come to light. The boy’s father also believes there may be other victims. The four-year-old has now changed childcare.
If the allegations turn out to be true, it wouldn’t be the first kindergarten scandal to come to light this year. As reported, a teacher from a municipal institution in Penzing allegedly sexually assaulted several children. Similar allegations were also made in Liesing. Justice is investigating several cases and against various alleged perpetrators.
