The average price of electricity for customers with a regulated tariff linked to the wholesale market is down today by 30.9% compared to yesterday (EUR 116.49). Specifically, the price will be EUR 80.44/MWh, according to preliminary data from the Iberian Energy Market Operator (OMIE).
In this way, the electricity price for this Wednesday for consumers covered by the regulated tariff will be the lowest since the Iberian exception came into effect in mid-June, and the cheapest since October last year.
In the auction, the average price of electricity on the wholesale market for this Wednesday is 81.71 euros/MWh. The maximum price will be registered between 21:00 and 22:00, at 136.74 euros/MWh, while the minimum for the day, of 48.37 euros/MWh, will take place between 15:00 and 16:00.
If this mechanism were not applied to limit the price of gas for electricity generation, the electricity price in Spain would be on average €84.42/MWh.
The Iberian mechanism, which came into effect on 15 June, limits the price of gas for electricity generation to an average of EUR 48.8 per MWh over a twelve-month period.
