A roof truss fire on Museumstrasse in the middle of Innsbruck caused a major operation on Tuesday afternoon. A fire had spread to the roof of a high-rise building. The damage is extensive, the cause has now been clarified.
According to the police, the cause of the fire can be traced “with a probability bordering on certainty” to flames on the roof terrace. From there, the fire had spread.
The apartments are habitable again
The alarm went off around 4:00 PM. The professional fire brigade of Innsbruck extinguished the fire around 7 p.m. The damage amounts to about 500,000 euros. In addition to the Volksbank, the building houses several offices and apartments. The apartments are now habitable again, police said.
