Austrian Airlines (AUA) canceled 40 of the 330 scheduled flights for the day on Thursday morning because the flight crew held a work meeting. There were also delays.
“Passengers affected by changes who have provided a phone number or email address when booking have already been proactively informed about flight changes and rebookings. In addition, passengers are asked to check the flight status on the website in a timely manner,” said the airline. The airline emphasized that everything has been done to minimize the impact.
Good news for employees
The works council informed the employees on Thursday about the result of the negotiations that were reached with the board on Wednesday evening. Agreement was reached during the collective labor agreement negotiations for aircrew. Accordingly, the wage waiver from the coronavirus pandemic should be phased out by mid-next year.
There is now also an agreement for the commercial and technical staff. Here again, the board of directors and the union agreed on Wednesday to end the pay cut early, followed by salary increases in 2024 and 2025.
In concrete terms, the income for ground staff will increase as of 1 January 2023, because part of the wage exemption will be withdrawn. The salary exemption will then come to an end on 1 June 2023. Salaries will then increase by 7 percent in 2024 and by another 5.428 percent in 2025. In 2023 there will be an average of no less than 40 percent plus for students.
