A woman was injured in a fire in an apartment building in Wiener Neudorf in Lower Austria on Wednesday. Emergency services found the 64-year-old lying motionless on the ground, requiring CPR.
The fire brigade brought the apartment owner over the roof to safety with the help of a rescue vehicle. The woman was transported to the state clinic in Mödling. Other residents were evacuated, police and firefighters said.

A woman noticed the fire on the top floor of a six-storey house around 1:30 p.m. and alerted emergency services. During the extinguishing work, a window of the affected apartment from the cage of a turntable ladder was smashed, so that the flue gases could escape. The stairs could be kept smoke-free.

The flames in the kitchen were quickly extinguished, a “fire out” was given around 2 p.m. The residents were allowed to return to the building just before 3.30 pm. According to the district command, there was significant material damage in the affected apartment. Two fire brigades with eleven vehicles and 38 members were deployed. The cause of the fire is under investigation, police said in a broadcast on Thursday.
